With regular practice, you will be able to use some of the relaxation techniques and exercises included on this website whenever you need. However, the art is to be able to use them quickly as a situation arises or in preparation for a potentially stress triggering situation.
If you have practised using the RE-LAX technique, then you may find just by using the word ‘Re-lax’, it will help you to start the relaxation process very quickly. The word ‘Re-lax’ becomes a cue that triggers your Relaxation Response.
Other methods could include imagining your favourite flower or tree, and/or checking your breathing, and/or opening your hands, and/or dropping your shoulders. You could also use a visual cue such looking at your watch or a picture or photo on your office or home wall or desk.
